This is a great opportunity for those looking into Catholic school education to "see" our school. Visit the classrooms, computer room, science lab, library and families and students. Parishioners are also welcome, those who have not been in the school for a number of years, stop by to see what is new. Hope to see you there.

Our Parish Pastoral Council has continued it discussion and conversation about reaching out to young members of St. Joseph - the twenty something and thirty something folks. The conversation includes updating and enhancing our technology communications. Electronic bulletin boards and email blasts reminders are part of this discussion. Just wondering what others in the parish think. Let us know - on this blog, in the suggestion box, talking with a Council member or the staff.

The announcement, as it was presented to over 140 parishioners,
was done very well. As the Catholic faith has it's mysteries, so
does Fr. Joe.

We certainly displayed a strong sense of feowship in the offer for
free dinner, entertainment, open bar and camaraderie to our
parish family. It would make a Protestant envious that we are
using a long standing feature of theirs.

Above all, wasn't it great the way raffle (cash) winners returned
their prizes all in a way to show support for the new air
conditioner! They all displayed how much Fr. Joe means to
them.

As the summer moves along and there will be planing for fall events, one event that will be important for the church in the new translation of the Roman missal. We are considering at least three sessions to give an overview of the process of how this came about, what the differences will be and how to implement along with music for the parts for the people.
stay tuned....Fr. Joe

I am considering a fall offering of once a week going over a part of the Mass after the daily 9:00 a.m. Mass. I am wondering if a few more parishioners would come to something like that to prepare for the new translation and better understanding of the Eucharistic liturgy. Fr. Joe

There is a great article on page 21 of the May 2011 Catholic Transcript by Sr. Mary Kathleen Ronan. She explains how the changes of the wording help move the liturgy from ordinary words to more powerful expressions of our faith.
